Microbial degradation of Petroleum Product

Microbial degradation of Petroleum Product Photo

Soil contamination with petroleum product can cause pollution which can be harmful to animal and plant tissue may cause death or mutations. The techniques used in soil remediation are mechanical, evaporation, burying, dispersion, and washing. These technologies are very expensive so lead to incomplete decomposition of contamination. Microbial degradation is the natural mechanism which is used for the degradation of petroleum products from the environment. The biodegradation of alkyl aromatics is occurs by specific micro-organism namely, Arthrobacter, Burkholderia, Mycobacterium, Pseudomonas, Sphingomonas and Rhodococcus. The crude degradation organism are  Bacillus sp., Alcaligenes sp., Acinetobacter lwoffi, Flavobacterium sp., Micrococcus roseus, and Corynebacterium sp.
